StrategyOne: Americans Strongly Disappointed with Conduct of Corporations
12/29/2010
"With consumers highly dissatisfied with U.S. businesses, the 2011 strategy for corporate America needs to be back to basics," said Bradley Honan, senior vice president of StrategyOne. "Explaining not only `what' they do for the country, but `how' and `why' they do it needs to be the game plan for how to rebuild corporate reputation."
Based on 2010 performance, 82 percent of respondents gave corporate America a "C" grade on a scale of A to F. Forty percent gave corporate America a "D" or "F" grade.
Americans were optimistic overall on corporate performance in 2011, but they also have higher expectations. Nearly seven in 10 respondents had higher expectations for corporate America in 2011, and six in 10 said those expectations will be met.
Eighty-eight percent of those surveyed said corporations recovered better than American families in 2010, and 85 percent said corporations had better prospects for 2011 than American families.
