Allens Expands Food Processing in Arkansas, New York, Texas
06/28/2010
"Last year marked a record-breaking year of sweet potato sales for Allens," said Bobby D. Ray, senior vice president of retail sales and marketing. "Now with the $13.5 million dollar expansion of the company's plant in Van Buren, Arkansas, it is expected that we will grow our total sweet potato capacity even more than ever. Allens' long standing relationships from growers of sweet potato crops from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi will ensure the company will continue to meet our growing customers needs."
Allens plans to add a $2.2 million canned vegetable facility at its Oakfield, New York complex. It will package sweet peas, green beans, corn, and beets there. Its new 200,000-square-foot Texas plant represents a $4.7 million investment. It will serve as a distribution center.
Allens produces packaged vegetables under the Popeye, Royal Prince, Princella, Sugary Sam, Crest Top, Allens, Freshlike, Sunshine, Trappey's, Wagon Master, and Veg-All brands.
