Pursuit Boats Expands Operations With Second Plant in Ft. Pierce, Florida
09/30/2020
The new plant joins the company’s original 250,000 square foot facility in Ft. Pierce. The three-phase expansion project will ultimately bring their campus footprint to 100 acres of land with 773,000 square feet of manufacturing and support space and increase their local employment to 600.
The expansion has enabled Pursuit to increase production in order to meet growing market demands. Under the umbrella of Malibu Boats, the Pursuit Brand offers 14 models in the Sport, Center Console, Dual Console and Offshore series ranging in size from 23 to 43 feet. With a mission to design, engineer, tool and build the best boats on the market, the company has positioned itself as a leader in the marine industry.
“Pursuit has been manufacturing our award-winning luxury fishing boats in Ft. Pierce since 1983. After 38 years here, we are a multi-generational employer. We are pleased to announce the completion of our second plant. As a company, we are continuing to grow,” said Pursuit Boats President Bruce Thompson. “We now have nearly 500 employees and are excited to open our doors to be able to hire more locals, help grow and train the workforce, and increase economic development in our community.”
With the addition of the second plant, the company is on pace to launch four new boat models a year, company officials said. Most recently they added two boats to their Sport Series, the S 268 and the S 378 which is a Boating Industry Top Product recipient. The company’s next project is currently underway, and they plan to launch their largest boat model to date this October.
“Pursuit wants to get people on our boats where they can enjoy quality time with friends and family,” continued Thompson. “And the end user, the Pursuit owner, can be assured that their boat is hand built under the guiding principles that make a Pursuit a Pursuit. Our boats turn heads, particularly here on the Treasure Coast. Local owners are proud that their boats are manufactured here in their own backyard. And our local employees are proud to see the boats they built, the result of their hard work, dedication and attention to detail, out on the water.”
