Computer Networking Firm Moving Over 600 Jobs to New Hampshire
01/13/2012
Enterasys Networks designs and manufactures all types of networking equipment, including routers, switches, and 802.11wireless access points and controllers. It serves over 18,500 customers at more than 80 companies.
According to President and CEO Chris Crowell, the computer networking firm outgrew its 150,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in nearby Andover, Massachusetts, and needed a bigger location. As a result of the move, Enterasys will occupy 190,000-sq.-ft. of space in a 650,000-sq.-ft. building.
"This space simply couldn't support us any further," said Crowell. "The [site] in New Hampshire was the best opportunity." He added that lower business taxes and property values in NH were important factors in the relocation decision, and the Salem location will provide easier access to Manchester Boston Regional Airport.
"This is a significant opportunity for New Hampshire," said Michael Bergeron with NH's Division of Economic Development. "[Enterasys is] really cutting edge." He confirmed that many Massachusetts firms are looking to relocate to the Granite State due to its lower tax burden and more favorable business climate.
