ChartSpan Medical Technologies To Establish Headquarters At NEXT Innovation Center In Greenville, South Carolina
01/16/2014
"ChartSpan has developed the world's first consumer technology automating the conversion of paper healthcare records into electronic records, through the most advanced patient-based healthcare record application ever developed," said Jon-Michial Carter, CEO and Founder of ChartSpan. "We thank our investors and industry partners for their commitment and confidence, and greatly appreciate the assistance of the Greenville Area Development Corporation, SC BIO, The Iron Yard Accelerator Program, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and all partners who collaborated to help make today's announcement a reality."
According to Carter, talented developers and experienced digital marketers will be hired to expand the firm's product offering and launch its consumer technology. The firm plans to add as many as 30 high-tech positions over the next 18 to 24 months. The organization, which was incubated in The Iron Yard's Healthcare Accelerator in Spartanburg, originally intended to return to Carter's roots in Houston, Texas for its business launch before deciding to remain in the Palmetto State. "We fell in love with the Upstate, and with the dynamic business community of mentors, support organizations and talent located right here in Greenville," Carter added.
"It is a great day in South Carolina as we see new high-tech jobs coming to the Upstate," said Gov. Nikki Haley. "We celebrate ChartSpan as they create 11 new jobs and 30 more as they continue to grow their business in our state."
"ChartSpan choosing to establish in South Carolina speaks volumes for our state's ability to foster the innovation sector," said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. "Through the network of incubators and programs like Coursepower, our workforce is ready and able to take on these high-tech jobs and show the world what we can produce."
"ChartSpan is a great example of a company combining highly refined technology with the Upstate's exceptional talent base to launch and grow their business," said Dr. Bob Taylor, a director of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and chairman of Greenville County Council. "The company has found a formula for success keyed on research and innovation. This is a case study of our region's collaborative approach to expanding its knowledge economy, and a great example of the opportunities to be found in Greenville County and South Carolina."
