Dennen Steel Opens $7.4 Million Steel Stamping Manufacturing Plant In Iuka, Mississippi

10/17/2012
Dennen Steel Corp. opened its $7.4 million, 50,000 square foot, manufacturing facility at Yellow Creek Port in Iuka, Miss. creating 50 new jobs.

Dennen Steel, a contract stamping manufacturer of steel products, will purchase large master coils from steel mill producers and process steel slit coil into precision stampings, fabricated metal parts and assemblies at the Tishomingo County location, creating about 50 new jobs.

"We welcome Dennen Steel as the newest member of Mississippi's business community," Gov. Phil Bryant said. "The investment and jobs being created by Dennen Steel are further proof that `Mississippi Works', and the company's decision to locate here will positively impact the community and the state as a whole. I thank the company for its investment in our state, its confidence in our business climate and for creating these new job opportunities for the area's workers."

Andrew Dennen, chairman and CEO of Dennen Steel, said "The support we have received from the Mississippi Development Authority, Tishomingo County, the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Tennessee Valley Authority played a significant role in our decision to locate Dennen Steel's southern operation here, and we look forward to many successful years in Tishomingo County."

Dennen is one of two manufacturers to recently locate at Yellow Creek Port in Iuka, part of the 234 mile long Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway that connects the Tombigbee River in Alabama to the Tennessee River. The Tombigbee River exits into the Gulf of Mexico just south of Mobile, Alabama, and serves deepwater ports of New Orleans, Panama City, Pensacola, Gulfport, and Pascagoula.

The Mississippi Development Authority worked with company and local officials to provide assistance to Tishomingo County for infrastructure improvements at the site of the company's new facility. The Appalachian Regional Commission and Tennessee Valley Authority also provided assistance to help facilitate the project.

"This is an exciting day for Dennen Steel, Iuka and Tishomingo County, and we're very pleased to officially welcome the company to Mississippi," said Brent Christensen, MDA executive director. "We thank our partners in Tishomingo County and at the Appalachian Regional Commission and Tennessee Valley Authority who worked to make today possible, and we look forward to watching Dennen Steel grow in north Mississippi in the years to come."
