Manufacturing and Trade Inventory Figures Generally Improved in September

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the combined value of distributive trade sale and manufacturers' shipments in September totaled $1,101 billion, an increase of 0.5 percent from August, and an 8.9 percent increase from September 2009. Manufacturers' and trade inventories rose 0.9 percent between and August and September to $1,402.9 billion, a 6.3 percent rise since September 2009. The total business inventories and sales ratio declined slightly between September 2009 and 2010 from 1.3 to 1.27.
