Foxconn Technology Invests $30 Million To Expand Its Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Manufacturing Center
11/22/2013
In addition, the company said it will allocate $10 million for research and development on robotics cooperation with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
Foxconn chairman and founder Terry Guo said the Harrisburg plant will be transformed into a high-tech manufacturing facility for telecommunications equipment and Internet servers, with an estimated 500 employees.
"We'll go from original component R&D through to a complete high-end production chain," Guo said. "However, this is not, as assumed, manufacturing for a specific brand."
The firm said it wants to expand the number of products its makes in America, while not relocating items produced in Taiwan.
