Marshall County Manufacturing Plant Planned in Argos, Indiana

Indiana Economic Development Corporation approved Regional Cities Initiative funding to support the development of the Marshall County Manufacturing facility in Argos, Indiana.

The $2.77 million facility will be built within Argos' 75-acre shovel ready certified park. State officials awarded the project $400,000 in grants. The building will be 50,000 square feet, expandable up to 300,000 square feet and will feature many options that businesses need to be successful, including access to high-speed fiber. The project is expected to be complete by early 2018.

Located at 151 Dewey St. in Argos, the manufacturing center will help the region attract new business by meeting the needs of the manufacturing industry and allow Marshall County to respond to more leads while being more competitive in attraction projects, economic development experts said. This project will improve the regional economy by helping to attract capital investment to the region, creating more jobs and growing local communities.

"The Indiana Regional Cities Initiative is helping communities across the state transform into nationally-recognized destinations to live, work and play," said Elaine Bedel, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "This manufacturing facility will help spur capital investment in Argos, improving quality of place by attracting new industry and talent to the community."

“Over the last five years, we’ve acquired industrial land, earned Shovel Ready designation, worked with MCEDC to develop plans, and committed funding to this project in order to showcase our industrial park to its fullest potential. This is the next step in that process of implementing our newly adopted comprehensive plan and bring industry here,” said Dustin Johnson, President of the Argos Town Council.

“Argos is very committed and has taken a proactive yet aggressive position to attract new industry to the community” said Jerry Chavez, President & CEO of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation.“Through best practices in design and construction and committed partners, the Argos Manufacturing center will offer businesses a below market-price building with tons of flexibility all of which provides strategic advantages in the Indiana market.”

Projects in North Central Indiana were recommended for funding by the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Development Authority (RDA) and are part of the region's Smart Connected Communities plan, which outlines 39 regional development projects in three counties totaling $703 million in quality of place investments., according to Indiana Economic Development officials.

The South Bend-Elkhart region was one of three Indiana regions selected to receive state funding through the Regional Cities Initiative, which will allocate a total of $126 million toward 100 quality of place projects totaling more than $2 billion in combined state, local and private investment in order to retain and attract top talent to the Hoosier state.
