Greenheck Group Plans Shelby, North Carolina, Production Complex

Greenheck Group, an international manufacturer of commercial and industrial ventilation equipment, will invest $58.8 million in a production campus at Foothills Commerce Center in Shelby, North Carolina. The project is expected to create more than 400 jobs in Cleveland County.

Copeland. “We welcome Greenheck’s expansion and look forward to this next phase of the company’s growth in Cleveland County.”

The North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. (EDPNC) led the state’s support for the company’s decision.

Greenheck Group’s expansion in Cleveland County will be facilitated, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee earlier today. Over the course of the 12-year term of this grant, the project will grow the state’s economy by an estimated $768 million. Using a formula that takes into account the new tax revenues generated by the new jobs, the JDIG agreement authorizes the potential reimbursement to the company of up to $3,278,000, spread over 12 years. State payments only occur following performance verification by the departments of Commerce and Revenue that the company has met its incremental job creation and investment targets. JDIG projects result in positive net tax revenue to the state treasury, even after taking into consideration the grant’s reimbursement payments to a given company.

"Leading manufacturers with first-hand experience of what it’s like to do business in North Carolina time and again choose to expand in our state,” Governor Roy Cooper said. “Industrial companies know our state has a healthy market, a skilled workforce and communities ready to grow with them.”

Partnering with N.C. Commerce and the EDPNC on this project were the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Cleveland County, the City of Shelby, and the Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership.
