Ingredion Incorporated Expands Operations in North Charleston, South Carolina
07/22/2017
Serving customers in more than 100 countries, Ingredion turns grains, fruits, vegetables and other plant materials into value-added ingredients and biomaterial solutions for a variety of industries. This expansion will enable Ingredion to double its exports out of the Port of Charleston.
“With a pro-business environment, skilled workforce and excellent location, North Charleston is a great fit for Ingredion. One of the outstanding features of the area is the superior transportation that the Port of Charleston offers. Reliable transportation is essential to our business. We need a smooth-functioning system to deliver the raw materials used in our products, as well as to deliver finished product to our customers. The proximity to the Port of Charleston is a clear advantage,” said Ingredion Executive Vice President Global Specialties, President Americas Jim Zallie.
“This latest investment by Ingredion in Charleston County is a tremendous example of how companies of all sizes can thrive here. With companies like this one leading South Carolina’s manufacturing industry, there is no doubt that our state is going straight to the top,” Governor Henry McMaster said.
“South Carolina continues to lead the way in manufacturing, and today’s expansion announcement by Ingredion is a testament to that. As a longtime member of the Lowcountry community, we congratulate Ingredion and look forward to seeing all that they can accomplish as they continue to thrive here,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
