Southern Recycling Adds Second Plant in Warren County, Kentucky
10/30/2017
The company will develop 45 acres on Louisville Road and construct a state-of-the-art 60,000 square-foot scrap processing facility. The new operation will improve operations and efficiency of material flow, and accommodate growth to meet demand. Site work is expected to begin in November and company leaders plan to open the new location by October 2018.
“As a subsidiary of Houchens Industries, we are proud to be able to continue the growth we have experienced in Warren and surrounding counties,” said John Fellonneau, President of Southern Recycling. “And, we look forward to continuing to provide our services to area industries and the general public.”
“Southern Recycling has built a long-standing reputation of dependable, professional service,” Governor Matt Bevin said. “This latest opportunity for growth comes as a direct result of that reputation and, with its new operation and 30 years of experience, Southern Recycling is well-positioned to carry its success forward. Congratulations to the company on this investment and for setting an example within this industry.”
To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in October approved the company for up to $100,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act (KEIA). KEIA allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction costs, building fixtures, equipment used in research and development and electronic processing. Southern Recycling also can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network.
