Ole Mexican Foods Opens Manufacturing Center To Serve US West Coast In Reno, Nevada
12/19/2013
The company began production 25 years ago in Atlanta, Georgia, when founder Veronica Moreno decided to go into business selling homemade tortillas. Her family run business grew to become a premier manufacturer of superior Mexican food products, according to the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada. This year OLE expanded west and chose Reno as its central location for distribution to their customers on the West Coast. They are currently preparing their building to begin producing fried products initially, adding tortilla production lines in the near future.
The firm’s President Veronica Moreno said, "We currently employ approximately 2,000 people, we hope to build a great production facility and employ more than 500 people in Nevada. And while there is a lot to do before we reach that number, we did it in Dallas and Atlanta, and we can do it in Nevada."
"What an exciting way to welcome the holidays," said Mike Kazmierski, CEO of Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada."Ole is a growing company that is a great fit for our region and will be adding 350 manufacturing and distribution jobs in the near term, with the potential for many more jobs in the future."
The announcement is one of the largest job counts EDAWN has had in the past ten years, and will be another quality company for Nevada residents to work with. The company provides an attractive environment for future employees, offering opportunities for promotion while retaining the feel of a family run business, local economic development officials said. OLE has already begun staffing various functions that include competitive wages and an excellent benefits package.
City of Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, Executive Director of the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development Mike Skaggs, Washoe County Commissioner David Humke, and EDAWN Incoming Chair Steve Anderson, joined EDAWN CEO Mike Kazmierski in welcoming OLE Mexican Foods to northern Nevada.
