Thomson Plastics Opens Howell, Michigan, Plastic Injection Molding Facility

Thomson Plastics opened its newest 50,000 square foot plastic injection molding facility in Howell, Michigan. The facility is centrally located between Flint, Lansing and the Greater Detroit area.

The plant opened with 7 presses ranging from 400 tons to 800 tons. Thomson Plastics said it has plans for additional investments in presses and related support equipment including production of assembled components.

The firm coordinated with Michigan Works’ workforce development programs and engaged Ann Arbor SPARK to assist in applying for local incentives. "It’s exciting to have attracted an out of state company to Howell, and it speaks volume about how attractive the community’s assets are to a growing manufacturer like Thomson Plastics," said Paul Krutko, President and CEO of SPARK, Ann Arbor’s engine for economic development."

Committed to lean manufacturing principles, Thomson Plastics said it has a customer-focused approach to meeting the needs of many molding and assembly product requirements. Additional services include; Product Design, Tooling Design and Management, Just-In-Time Delivery, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and Customer Site Representative Services. Thomson Plastics utilizes gas assist, in mold decoration, pad printing, heat staking and hot stamping technologies. All molding and other operations are performed with the benefit of AIAG APQP guidelines.
