Taiwan-Based Apogee Power Plans Liberal, Kansas, Lithium Battery Manufacturing Operations

04/21/2026
Energy technology company Apogee Power plans to establish operations in Liberal, Kansas. The $16 million project is expected to create 80 jobs in Seward County.

The company’s new 20,000-square-foot manufacturing and assembly facility, located at 1600 W. Pancake Blvd., will support production, testing, and distribution of lithium iron phosphate battery systems for commercial, industrial, and grid-scale applications. Operations are scheduled to begin Summer 2026.

“Establishing a U.S. manufacturing footprint is a critical step in Apogee’s global growth strategy,” said Wen Lin, CEO of Apogee Power. “Liberal offers the infrastructure, workforce, and community partnership we were looking for and allows us to serve U.S. customers more efficiently.”

“In Kansas, we have a strong advanced battery ecosystem, talented workforce, and central location that companies are eager to access,” noted David Toland, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce for Kansas. “Apogee’s decision to locate in Liberal highlights the strength of our rural communities and our ability to compete globally.”

Apogee Power manufactures advanced battery and energy storage systems, supporting energy infrastructure and grid reliability across multiple markets.

“This investment builds on our region’s strengths in energy, logistics, and advanced manufacturing,” added Eli Svaty, Executive Director of the Seward County Development Corporation. “We’re excited to support Apogee’s growth and the opportunities it brings to Liberal.”
