Smooth-Bor Plastics Invests $1 Million To Establish Factory In Spartanburg, South Carolina
05/29/2013
The California-based firm’s first South Carolina manufacturing operation will be located at 120 Corporate Drive, Suite A-F, in Spartanburg. The new facility will manufacture the company’s range of flexible plastic corrugated hose and tubing for customers in the medical, vacuum, pool and recreational vehicle industries. The plant is expected to begin operations by the end of June. The company has already begun hiring to fill the 22 new positions it plans to create.
“Smooth-Bor Plastics is excited to be expanding its operations into South Carolina. This new facility will enable us to expand our business in the Southeast while better serving our customers in Europe. We are thrilled with the business environment and the support we have received from all the local and state officials,” said Eric Carlson, chief operating officer for Smooth-Bor Plastics.
“It’s exciting to see Smooth-Bor choose South Carolina as the location for its East Coast manufacturing operations. We celebrate the company’s decision to invest $1 million and create 22 new jobs in Spartanburg,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
“South Carolinians know how to make things, and make them well. Our state’s business-friendly climate, skilled workforce and nationally-recognized workforce training programs continue to attract investment from manufacturers, and today’s announcement by Smooth-Bor is another indication of that,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“Spartanburg County is pleased to welcome Smooth-Bor to our community. The Economic Futures Group worked diligently with Smooth-Bor for over 18 months to get to this point. This commitment to economic development has and will always be a strategic focus of Spartanburg County’s leadership,” said David Britt, chairman of the Economic Recruitment and Development Committee of Spartanburg County and member of the Economic Futures Group Board.
