Jerr-Dan Closes Two Greencastle, Pennsylvania Facilities, Laying Off 100
07/15/2010
"We have looked at our operations, both Jerr-Dan and JLG. They're both very close and both sister companies," said John Daggett, a spokesperson for Oshkosh Corp., which owns JLG. "We've done an exhaustive study looking at operations and determined what is the best, most efficient way to maximize our resources. It was determined we would move the manufacturing of Jerr-Dan products to our sister company, JLG."
The company produces towing and recovery equipment. It plans to complete the move by October. Jerr-Dan production will move to JLG facilities in McConnellsburg and Shippensburg.
"Our companies have been weathering the economic recession that's impacted all of us. Companies always have to look at their operations and determine what is the best way to move forward. These are always difficult decisions but we are meeting with all affected employees this week and we will be reaching out to the state for their resources to help with the transition to new employment," Daggett said.
The company has not estimated how much it will save as a result of the consolidation.
