Piling Solutions Expands Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, Manufacturing Plant
07/03/2019
Founded in 2014, the company provides piling for driven and drilled foundations, tooling for drilling operations, and services related to the supply of steel pile foundations.
PSI plans to double its manufacturing operations by purchasing and renovating an existing 225,000-square-foot heavy industrial facility in Hanover Township. It will also invest in new machinery and equipment to enable greater production.
The company has pledged to invest more than $9 million into the project, which is expected to create 50 new, full-time jobs and retain 37 existing Pennsylvania jobs over the next three years.
“We’re proud to be a part of the resurgence of Luzerne County’s manufacturing and industrial sector,” said Gene Swindell, President of PSI. “Piling Solutions started here, in Mountain Top, in 2014. Looking to the future and the expansion of our operations and workforce in Hanover Township, we couldn’t be more pleased to stay in Luzerne County. We are grateful for the help of DCED, Senator Yudichak’s office, and the Governor’s Action Team for their assistance.”
PSI received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for a $100,000 Pennsylvania First grant, $50,000 in job creation tax credits to be distributed upon the creation of new jobs, and a $34,000 workforce development grant to help the company train its workers. PSI was also encouraged to apply for a low-interest $1.5 million loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority to assist with site development costs. The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania.
“This expansion is great news for Piling Solutions and great news for Luzerne County,” Governor Tom Wolf said. “It’s contributing to the growing strength of Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector, which is boosting our economy and providing family-sustaining jobs for our workers. It’s great to see Pennsylvania-born companies like Piling Solutions recognizing the benefits of the commonwealth and committing to grow here for years to come.”
“From starting as a small homegrown company, Piling Solutions continues to expand their business and create family-sustaining manufacturing jobs for the residents of Luzerne County,” said Senator John Yudichak. “Their commitment truly represents the resiliency of the manufacturing sector in Pennsylvania and continues the unprecedented job growth that we are seeing across Luzerne County.”
