08/14/2024
The new facility, located at the former Q.E.P. building, will allow for larger production capacity of its current golf cart line.
“Johnson City and the State of Tennessee have been vital in LPI’s path of becoming the largest hot tub manufacturer in the USA. We are now looking forward to creating the same rapid growth in our new EV golf cart manufacturing business. The employee base and advantages Johnson City offers are second to none in our eyes, and we are thankful to be a part of it,” David Hatley, CEO, MD Carts said.
MD Carts manufactures a line of golf carts and other specialty recreational carts. The company sells its products directly to consumers at its more than 80 company owned retail locations across the U.S. and online through its website, GolfCarts.com.
“Tennessee is defined by the brands that call our state home, and we are grateful that MD Carts has chosen to expand in Northeast Tennessee with its largest expansion to date. I am proud to take part in announcing this significant win for both Johnson City and Washington County and look forward to seeing the growth MD Carts experiences here,” noted TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter.
"The establishment of the MD Carts facility brings significant investment and job opportunities, highlighting Johnson City as a top choice for innovative manufacturing. MD Carts’ investment in our city will generate positive ripple effects throughout our local economy and community,” Johnson City Economic Development Director Alicia Summers added.
