Immucor, Inc. Expands Operations Center In Brookfield, Wisconsin
08/30/2016
According to company officials, most of the new hires will be highly skilled technical specialists, such as R&D scientists and chemists. These capital and staff investments will enable Immucor to significantly increase sales of products manufactured at its Brookfield location, more than half of which will be sold to overseas customers.
Headquartered in suburban Atlanta, Immucor is a global leader in transfusion and transplantation diagnostics that facilitate patient/donor compatibility. With this move, Immucor’s Brookfield subsidiary will be the manufacturing and R&D hub for Immucor’s transplantation diagnostics business.
“Brookfield continues to be an important base of operations for our company,” said Mike McNello, Senior Director of Operations and Site Leader for Immucor in Brookfield. “The region has a deep base of talent that uniquely supports businesses like ours. After considering a number of location options, we decided that Wisconsin was the optimal place to make this investment.”
“Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) continues to fulfill its mission of supporting business development in Wisconsin through innovative programs,” said Tricia Braun, deputy secretary and chief operating officer for WEDC. “WEDC is pleased to play a key role in assisting Immucor with its expansion, which is great news for the state.”
Under the terms of the agreement with WEDC, Immucor will be eligible for up to $480,000 in Business Development Tax Credits over the next three years. As is the case with all WEDC awards, the actual amount of credits received will be contingent upon full-time job creation and capital investment during that time.
“We are proud to have a dynamic company like Immucor choose to expand its operation in Waukesha County,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “Our unwavering commitment to growing our economy and supporting the needs of businesses like Immucor, advances our long-term goal to become the economic epicenter of Wisconsin. We wish Immucor continued success.”
“We are pleased and grateful that Immucor has chosen to expand in southeastern Wisconsin,” said Jim Paetsch, vice president of the Milwaukee 7 regional economic development group. “We understand that this expansion could have been placed in any number of locales where Immucor has operations. The decision by Immucor to expand here is another affirmation that our assets, talent and work ethic are attractive to global firms. Companies like Immucor, which export a significant amount of product overseas, are exactly the kind we want and can well support in our region.”
