Ferguson Enterprises Plans Celina, Ohio, Distribution Center
09/12/2013
The company said the city of Celina, located in Mercer County, was chosen because of its close proximity to other Ferguson locations in the Midwest. The new facility will operate with a paperless inventory system, replenishing inventory to the company’s branch warehouses. In addition to servicing these wholesale purchase points for contractors, the Ohio location will support the company’s 10 other regional distribution centers in the United States.
"Our distribution centers are the heart of our supply chain," Al Byrd, Ferguson's senior vice President of supply chain said, when the project was announced. "The Celina DC will allow us to get our customers the products they need quickly, even the next day. We are excited to grow our infrastructure in the Midwest and better serve our customers while also providing new jobs for the region."
Jared Ebbing, Economic Development Director for Mercer County, said "We're very fortunate and blessed that they found us and gave us the time to explain who we are as a people and how great a match we believe this county is for a company with Ferguson's reputation. Logistically speaking, I think it's a perfect fit for this area. It's a definitely a win for the region and the state of Ohio as a whole."
A global engineering, construction and services company, KBR said its Building Group has been awarded a contract to construct the distribution center. KBR said it previously built a regional distribution center for Ferguson in Waterloo, Iowa.
“KBR is excited to showcase our construction and design-assist capabilities for this new distribution center that allows Ferguson to improve efficiency and deliver inventory to its customers more quickly,” said Phil Southerland, President, KBR Building Group.
