BBVA Compass Consolidating Call Centers, Moving 200 Jobs to Texas

BBVA Compass, a division of Spain-headquartered financial services company BBVA Group, will consolidate some of its call-center operations in the United States and shift 200 jobs to Pharr, Texas, according to the Birmingham News. The jobs are currently based in Birmingham, Alabama, where BBVA Compass is headquarted; BBVA Group purchased Compass Bancshares in 2007. A BBVA spokesperson tells the News that the jobs will move to Texas over the next four to six months, and employees in Birmingham will be offered the opportunity to move with the jobs; however, the company does not expect many to do so and expects to hire new employees in Pharr.
