Richmond National Group Expands Glen Allen, Virginia, Operations
03/19/2026
The investment will include approximately 22,000 square feet of additional space at the company’s existing operations center.
“Five years ago, we started our specialty insurance company in the Richmond area primarily due to its deep talent pool of insurance and financial services professionals and its favorable business environment,” said Richmond National Group President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph C. Kavanagh. “These factors have contributed to our early success as a younger company, and we continue to see significant hiring opportunities in the region.”
Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) will support Richmond National’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs to support employee recruitment and training activities. As a business incentive supporting economic development, VJIP reduces the human resource costs of new and expanding companies. VJIP is state funded, demonstrating Virginia’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities for citizens.
“Virginia’s strong network of insurance and financial services talent make the Commonwealth a natural home for companies like Richmond National Group,” noted Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery. “By expanding operations in Henrico County, Richmond National is creating new career opportunities while reinforcing the greater Richmond region’s reputation as a hub for specialty insurance and professional services providers.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Henrico County to secure the project.
Richmond National Group specializes in property and casualty insurance designed for small and mid-sized businesses that have difficulty securing coverage in the standard insurance market.
