2022 Gold & Silver Shovel Awards Project of the Year: Samsung Makes Its Largest U.S. Investment in Texas

Working to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S., Samsung is adding to its presence in Texas with a $17 billion investment.

Working to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S., Samsung is adding to its presence in Texas with a $17 billion investment.

Everything from 5G mobile devices to high-performance computing and artificial intelligence equipment will run on the advanced-logic chips that Samsung will create at a new facility in Taylor, Texas. The company plans to invest $17 billion in the semiconductor manufacturing facility and create as many as 1,800 jobs.

The company says the Taylor facility will be one of the keys in its global semiconductor manufacturing capacity, along with a new line in South Korea. It’s Samsung’s largest investment ever in the U.S.
