The company will also invest in an insectary to breed pests that will be used to test the resistances of Pioneer corn and soybean breeds.
"In order to verify the resistances, we need a supply of the insects to expose to the plants," said Jim Register, Pioneer's director of agriculture biotechnology programs.
Pioneer employs 3,000 people in Iowa across seed production facilities in Algona, Cherokee, Durant, Dysart, Hedrick, Mount Pleasant, Reinbeck, Renwick, and Toledo, and research sites at Dallas Center, Sheldahl, and Marion.
