AtCorr Packaging Products Expands to Manufacturing Complex in Glasgow, Kentucky
03/02/2020
According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, AtCorr leaders expect to relocate into a 174,000-square-foot space in an existing building owned by the company at 1320 W. Main St in Glasgow, Kentucky. The investment, which comes in response to significant growth in recent years, also will cover the cost of new equipment, work stations and conveyor lines. Positions associated with the new jobs would include production and supervisory roles. Work on the project is expected to begin immediately, with hiring efforts beginning in the coming months.
“The AtCorr team is incredibly excited to be expanding our operations here in Barren County,” said Kenny Whitworth, co-owner of AtCorr. “We are grateful for the support provided by both the state and local governments.”
Opened in 2011, AtCorr currently employs 14 people in Glasgow. The company has seen sustained growth as the corrugated packaging industry has benefited from the emergence of e-commerce and digital printing technologies, state economic development officials said. Production also has been boosted by an increase in customers who want to reduce their environmental impact through Fit-To-Product shipping services.
AtCorr offers shipping containers of various shapes and sizes, including regular slotted containers, self-lock, tuck-top mailers, file and tray and bulk shipping containers. The company also supplies industrial packaging supplies, such as carton sealing tape, stretch film, padded mailers, corner post/edge protectors and bubble wrap, among other products.
“Today has been an incredible day of job creation across the state, and the growth of AtCorr Packaging Products continues that trend,” Governor Andy Beshear said. “The company’s decision to remain in Kentucky as it plans to more than triple its employment base is a reminder that our workforce is second to none.”
Maureen Carpenter, executive director of the Barren County Economic Authority, noted the importance of growth for existing companies in the region.
“We are excited for AtCorr Packing Products, LLC as they expand their operations,” Carpenter said. “Small businesses like Atcorr Packaging Products are the life blood of the community and we look forward to assisting them as they continue to grow, right here in Barren County.”
To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) on Thursday preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based agreement can provide up to $250,000 in tax incentives based on the company’s investment of $780,950 and annual targets of; creation and maintenance of 31 Kentucky-resident, full-time jobs across 10 years, while paying an average hourly wage of $17 including benefits across those jobs.
By meeting its annual targets over the agreement term, the company can be eligible to keep a portion of the new tax revenue it generates. The company may claim eligible incentives against its income tax liability and/or wage assessments.
In addition, AtCorr can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives.
