GEICO Adding 300 Employees in Amherst, New York

GEICO is creating 300 jobs in Amherst, New York, the Buffalo News reports. The auto insurance company is replacing employees who have left the company along with expanding its work force.

"We're a growing organization. People always need insurance," said Steve Cunningham, regional vice president and general manager of the Amherst facility. "We're saving people money, and in these tough economic times, people are trying to save every dollar they can."

GEICO currently has 1,900 workers at the 250,000-square-foot facility. It has been gradually adding employees over the past few years, and has the capacity to house up to 2,500 employees.
