Pixel Magic Locating Studio in Louisiana

11/09/2009
Pixel Magic, a provider of digital effects for motion pictures and television, will locate a studio in Lafayette, Louisiana, according to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. The company plans to create up to 40 new jobs over the next three years, beginning with an initial work force of 12. Pixel Magic will be located in the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE), a 70,000-square-foot facility at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. "LITE has a built-in technology infrastructure -- high-speed Internet, high-speed rendering, and this screen room," says Raymond McIntyre Jr., Pixel Magic's vice president and VFX supervisor. "They also have an understanding and skill set, people who know technology and data handling. That immediate availability helped us make our decision." The Advertiser reports that the company was considering sites in Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Canada. A statement from the Louisiana governor's office says Pixel Magic will be eligible for the state's film production tax credits and digital interactive media tax credits, as well as training assistance.
