AT&T Plans Multi-billion Investment To Hire 1,000 Employees Throughout Georgia
06/10/2013
AT&T said it is hiring full- and part-time employees in network construction and maintenance, customer support, retail and other positions.
"Georgia businesses and consumers are using more communications services such as wireless and broadband," said Gov. Nathan Deal. "These jobs will provide opportunities for our citizens in one of the fastest-growing parts of the Georgia economy and will help build critical communications infrastructure and provide customer support."
As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to increase the density of its wireless network by deploying more than 10,000 macro sites, more than 1,000 distributed antenna systems and more than 40,000 small cells. “As AT&T continues to invest in our network and expand our customer base in Georgia, we’re committed to providing excellent customer service,” said Sylvia Russell, president of AT&T Georgia. “We applaud Governor Deal and the members of the Georgia General Assembly who are working to create a business-friendly environment where industries want to invest and create job opportunities for Georgians."
“Technology is an industry sector in which the state has long excelled, thanks to a strategically laid infrastructure and a large pool of tech-savvy talent,” said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Georgia is in the perfect position to not only contribute to AT&T’s growth, but to benefit from it.”
