SouthCoast Development Partnership- Biotechnology's Friendly Neighbor in the South- SouthCoast Massachusetts
Biotech Location Guide 2008
When such innovative biotechnology products are ready for manufacture, entrepreneurs are increasingly looking south toward SouthCoast Massachusetts for the real estate, water resources, skilled workers, tax incentives, and overall quality of life available in this region.
The communities of SouthCoast offer high-end quality of life at lower costs of living than the communities surrounding Boston or in the states of New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Business-friendly government officials provide needed public services, streamlined permitting and financial incentives. With consumer-focused utilities, plentiful water, and efficient sewage systems, the communities of the SouthCoast have it all - and at price your business can afford.
Great Market Access
The hub communities of New Bedford and Fall River have an outstanding transportation infrastructure that offers excellent market access. In addition, the region has convenient access to three major airports linked to all domestic and international markets, plus two deep-water ports.
The region's vibrant business parks have proper zoning and innovative research and development overlay districts to accommodate biotech companies and offer immediately available spaces designed for life sciences and biotechnology industry needs.
Hands-on Financing and Tech Support
The SouthCoast offers hand-on management assistance, access to financing for angel/venture funding or loans, and access to business and technical support services. The region has outstanding research facilities and incubator programs managed by UMass Dartmouth at the Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center in Fall River and the Quest Center in New Bedford to accommodate technology-based startup businesses.
Through the efforts of the SouthCoast Development Partnership and others, business leaders throughout New England and around the globe are discovering that the SouthCoast is an attractive and affordable alternative to the expense and congestion of doing business around Boston and other large metropolitan areas on the East Coast.
