Kia Hiring 700 New Workers in West Point, Georgia

04/26/2011
Kia Motors will build its Optima sedan at its West Point, Georgia, facility, creating 700 new jobs at the plant that already employs 2,300 people.

"Kia is experiencing tremendous growth in the U.S., and the increased volume at [the Georgia plant] will create more jobs at the plant, as well as nearby and on-site suppliers, and is the latest demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the U.S. and local economies," said Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia president Byung Mo Ahn.

The company currently manufactures Optimas in South Korea. In Georgia, Kia will produce this model for the North American market. The company will begin production on the 2012 model of the car in the third quarter of this year.
