Indigo Resources Ltd Plans Rail-To-Barge Crude Oil And Petroleum Terminal In Osceola, Arkansas
04/08/2013
The firm said it seeks to provide more efficient turnaround time from the Bakken shale in North Dakota and Canadian oil fields, from 5 to 7 days, to the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The facility will provide 3 million gallons of storage capacity for bitumen and crude oil products, and direct access to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. It will also feature an advanced loading dock with more cost-effective down river transport time by barge to the lower Mississippi River. In addition up to 200 acres will be available for other companies to take advantage of co-location opportunities.
Indigo said its facility will be different from most of the other current terminals on the Mississippi, by having multiple manifolds and several different track lines, both unit and manifest. With access to major highways, the terminal will also provide a high capacity truck rack facility. The terminal will have direct mainline access to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, which will allow petroleum products from the north to be loaded onto barges for more efficient distribution from the major oil fields.
