Metals Products Manufacturer Plans $6.3 Million Plant Expansion in Shelby County, Kentucky

Roll Forming Corporation, a metals products manufacturer, plans a $6.3 million investment at its Shelby County, Kentucky manufacturing plant, expanding its 60,000 square foot production complex to 91,000 square feet, with initial plans to add 30 jobs.

Roll Forming utilizes roll forming metal technology to create a variety of products for varied industries, ranging from transportation and construction to renewable energy and aerospace. The company's expansion is due to growth in commercial aviation markets. Headquartered in Shelbyville, Kentucky, at 1070 Brooks Industrial Road, the manufacturer is the North American subsidiary of Voestalpine AG, based in Linz , Austria.

To encourage the investment and job growth in Shelbyville, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $400,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

KEDFA also approved Roll Forming for tax benefits up to $57,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, which allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction costs, building fixtures, equipment used in research and development and electronic processing equipment.

"This would be an exciting announcement for Shelbyville any time, but especially during these tough economic times," said Sen. Paul Hornback, of Shelbyville. "Roll Forming is a quality company, and I'm pleased to hear they are continuing to invest in our community and contribute toward this vital industry. These 30 new jobs will provide new opportunities for our workforce and a boost to our local economy."

Governor Steve Beshear said the company currently employs 220 people at its Shelby County facility. "Roll Forming has a long and rich history in Kentucky, and we're proud of their continued success," he said. "
