Heartland Commerce and Technology Park in Campbellsville, Kentucky, Receives Certification

A 10-acre tract, expandable to 173 acres, in the Heartland Commerce and Technology Park, 81.3 miles northeast of Bowling Green, received the Bluegrass State’s Build-Ready certification in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

The tract includes a 108,000 square-foot building pad and can accommodate a proposed manufacturing facility of 100,000 square feet or more. The site, zoned for heavy industrial use, includes access to water, sewer, natural gas and electric.

“By earning Build-Ready certification for it site in the Heartland park, Campbellsville and Taylor County position themselves to receive more interest from a variety of manufacturing employers,” said Terry Gill, Secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, which administers the Build-Ready program.

“A key Build-Ready feature that attracts inquiries from prospective businesses is that certified sites offer an expedited timeline to locate, build and open a facility, meaning companies can begin shipping products and generating revenue all the more rapidly,” Gill added.

Build-Ready sites include a pad 50,000 square feet or greater, expandable to 100,000 square feet or more, and utilities that extend to the site’s edge. As well, the designation means necessary permits, including water, phase-1 environmental, archeological, historical and geotechnical are on file, as well as preliminary building plans, cost estimates and schedule projections.

The applicant, usually a city, county or economic-development group, must also provide a rendering of a potential building for the site.

Senator Max Wise, of Campbellsville, said the site will encourage companies to consider the community for future projects. “Build-Ready sites create economic development opportunities across our state, and I am pleased to hear the newest site will be located right here in Campbellsville,” he said. “Taylor County is in the heart of the Bluegrass State and a perfect location for growing industries, and I wish the very best to the final developer of this Build-Ready site.”

Kentucky’s other Build-Ready sites include tracts in the Highland Glen Industrial Park in Barren County, the Bluegrass Crossings Regional Business Centre in Ohio County, the 4 Star Regional Industrial Park in Henderson, the Hickory Industrial Park in Graves County, the Shelton Industrial Park in Russellville, Progress Park in Horse Cave, Muhlenberg County Industrial Park in Greenville, Commerce Industrial Park in Hopkinsville and three sites in the Kentucky Transpark in Bowling Green.

Due to high levels of interest in Bowling Green’s three Build-Ready locations, local officials advanced one previous site further with the construction of a speculative facility. It represents an example of Kentucky communities working to advance to meet the demands of business expansions and new locations.
