Sportsman Boats Manufacturing Expands Summerville, South Carolina, Boat Building Complex
08/24/2017
Sportsman’s product offerings currently include 21 models of center consoles and bay boats. Ranging in size from 17-31 feet, the boats are designed for saltwater enthusiasts.
Located at 113 Isaac Way in Summerville, the company will be adding 70,000 square feet of production space to its existing facility to accommodate the growth of its upholstery, welding and small part fabrication operations.
In addition, Sportsman Boats has just completed an 800-kilowatt (kW) solar power system mounted on the roof of its facility. The state-of-the-art technology is designed to bolster the company’s ongoing sustainability efforts.
As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
“Sportsman Boats is proud to have roots here in South Carolina and Dorchester County, and we are excited about our continued growth. It is refreshing to live and work in a state that is pro-business and to be able to work with local and state officials to help provide good jobs for our fellow citizens,” Sportsman Boats President Tommy Hancock said.
“When a company doing business here decides to reinvest and further commit to our state and our people, it shows that South Carolina is one of the best places in the world to be doing business. Sportsman Boats’ decision to expand in Summerville shows that our exceptional workforce can accomplish anything, and that South Carolina is ‘Just right’ for business,” Governor Henry McMaster said.
