Survey: Despite Weak Economy, IT Workers Confident

01/23/2008
Professionals in the information technology sector remain confident of their employers and their ability to find new jobs, despite the weakening U.S. economy, according to a survey conducted by Spherion Corporation. The IT Employee Confidence Index, which measured overall confidence among U.S. information technology workers in the fourth quarter of 2007, found that 66 percent of workers are confident in the future of their current employers, an increase of 4 percent over the previous quarter. Additionally, 60 percent were confident in their ability to find a new job, an increase of 3 percent over the previous quarter. "Despite concerns about the economy, the demand for skilled IT professionals continues to exist," says Brendan Courtney, senior vice president of corporate development and field operations for Spherion. "We are seeing business expand, driven in part by company initiatives that seek to increase performance through enhanced technology."
