Pharma Giant Investing $280M in China

03/10/2008
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals will invest $280 million to build a state-of-the-art nutritional manufacturing facility in the Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu, China. The new plant will primarily produce infant formula milk powder and other nutritional products. Upon completion, company officials expect it to be one of the world's largest nutritional manufacturing facilities. "When completed, this facility will enable us to meet the growing demand for nutritional products in the Chinese market," says Robert Essner, Wyeth's board chair. Construction has already begun at the site and full operations are expected by late 2010, by which time the company expects to employ approximately 500 workers.
