"This new, state-of-the-art, gluten-free facility marks yet another important step in Schar's continued growth in the United States," said Donna George, president and COO of Schar USA. "We will continue to introduce innovative, gluten-free foods into supermarkets and health food stores across the country. As we look to become the U.S. market leader in gluten-free foods and innovation, New Jersey is a perfect location to support our national distribution and growth."
Schar graduated from the Rutgers Food Innovation Center. It will invest more than $15 million in the facility and will create more than 50 jobs. The initial site plans are for a 50,000-square-foot space, with the option to add another 30,000 square feet.
Schar produces gluten-free breads, pasta, cookies, crackers, and frozen meals.
