Shimadzu U.S.A. Expanding Canby, Oregon, Site with New 54,000 S.F. Plant

03/16/2011
Shimadzu U.S.A. Manufacturing is creating more than 50 jobs in the next three years in Canby, Oregon. The company produces analytical instrumentation for pharmaceutical and other high-tech industries there.

"Shimadzu USA Manufacturing and Shimadzu Corporation have decided to make a significant commitment to the Oregon operation to better support expected growth in both the U.S. and European marketplaces," said Joe Shaddix, Shimadzu's Vice President of Operations and the Canby Factory Manager. "Additionally, due to the exceptional quality of the instruments produced in Canby, exports to China will increase as well."

The expansion entails building an additional 54,000-square-foot and an investment of more than $5 million. Shimadzu expects to begin construction in June. The company will also expand its existing high-tech machine shop.

The company is a division of Kyoto, Japan's Shimadzu Corporation.
