ATCO Structures Plans 200,000 Square Foot Plant in Pocatello, Idaho, Creating 150 Jobs
04/09/2012
Harry Wilmot, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Canadian-based firm said "the Idaho plant will expand ATCO's manufacturing capacity in the U.S. and will help meet growing demand for our products and services throughout North America. A committed and skilled workforce will be key to the plant's success. ATCO will work with the local community to hire the most skilled trades people and production workers available."
Dan Cravens, regional economist for the Idaho Department of Labor, said ATCO is good news for east Idaho. "A lot of the individuals who are unemployed right now come from the construction field, and they have a lot of transferability when it comes to skills that will make them great employees for ATCO," he said.
"I am thrilled that ATCO has chosen Pocatello," Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad said. "This business will be a great new addition to our community providing over 150 new manufacturing jobs. These are the type of jobs that are highly sought after by communities across our nation. I'm glad we have landed them in Pocatello."
"I want to thank Bannock Development, the Idaho Department of Commerce, the Idaho Department of Labor, along with the Pocatello City Council and staff as well as the Gateway West Industrial Center for working hard and successfully to bring this great business to our community," he added.
While details of any incentive package were not immediately available, John Regetz, Bannock Development executive director said, "our community has once again proven itself to be an excellent location for a business to locate. Our great workforce and a favorable business climate are major factors in bringing this business and its good jobs to Pocatello."
The firm's modular housing will meet an increasingly growing demand produced created by the energy and mining industries, he said.
