Yamaha Motor to Create Up to 200 New Jobs in Georgia
05/19/2011
As a direct result of moving its global ATV production to the facility this year, Yahama said it expects to hire up to 200 (or more) new employees at its Newnan plant over the next three to five years. More good news: The transfer of work may be responsible for adding a total of 800 to 1,000 jobs in the near future; that scenario all depends upon market conditions.
"This production transfer shows Yamaha's commitment to this facility and the U.S. motorsports market - the world's largest ATV market," said Yamaha Motorsports President Henio Arcangeli Jr. "Manufacturing ATVs in Georgia will allow Yamaha to respond more quickly to its customers' demands while streamlining its supply chain and distribution processes. "
The ATV production transfer-originally announced early last year--is a long-term strategy that will culminate in the company bringing the vast majority of Yamaha's worldwide ATV manufacturing to YMMC by 2013. Over the past decade the company has invested over $250 million into the Georgia factory, which currently employs about 1,100 workers.
