Cooper Standard Closing Bowling Green, Ohio, Auto Part Plant

02/04/2011
Cooper Standard is closing its automotive hose manufacturing plant in Bowling Green, Ohio. The company attributed the shutdown to "overcapacity in the North American automotive industry," according to a press release. The plant closure will take place over the next year.

The company has decided that production volume is insufficient to continue operating all three of its North American hose plants. It will consolidate Bowling Green operations in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and Atlacomulco, Mexico.

The Bowling Green facility has approximately 200 workers that make low-pressure rubber hoses for several automakers. The United Steelworkers 1152L represents some of the employees.
