Cyanco Expands Sodium Cyanide Production at Winnemucca, Nevada, Plant
10/02/2018
The new solid NaCN production lines in Winnemucca, Nevada will provide additional redundancy of supply for the company’s Alvin, Texas facility, which was built to serve international customers in 2013. Due to these attractive dynamics, the project enjoys the strong support of the state and local communities.
Cyanco’s investment to install 35,000 metric tons of annual solid NaCN capacity will strengthen its position as the global leader for the supply of this mission-critical reagent for gold and silver mining around the world. Cyanco is installing proven technology on an existing site that benefits from an established raw material supply base and infrastructure.
“As the NaCN market continues to experience strong growth globally, we are expanding both solid and solution capacity to meet market demand and ensure the continued safe, reliable and high-quality supply of product around the world,” said Cyanco President & CEO, Michael Lefenfeld. “We are pleased that Cyanco’s new owners, affiliates of Cerberus Capital Management, have such confidence in our business model to support this strategic investment.”
With all necessary permitting and approvals secured, Cyanco is ready to break ground, with mechanical completion of the expansion project expected in the fourth quarter of 2019 and with facility utilization ramping quickly. Once operational, Cyanco’s full delivery system, including West Coast ocean and NAFTA rail supply chains, will be registered under the International Cyanide Management Code.
