American Roller Bearing to Create 231 Jobs in North Carolina
12/12/2011
Family owned ARB will invest $3 to $5 million every year, for five years, in land, buildings, machinery and equipment. Based in Hickory, NC, the 100-year-old company manufactures anti-friction bearings for industrial equipment used in electrical power generation, mining and rock crushing, primary metal making, wind energy and many other industries.
ARB chose to expand in North Carolina because it has "dedicated [and] skilled workers" with "strong family values," said President Ben Succop. Currently the business employs 340 people across the state.
ARB has purchased the old Rexnord building in Burke County. After the facility undergoes renovations, Succop said it will become "a state-of-the -art roller bearing manufacturing plant."
The state's Economic Investment Committee awarded ARB a Job Development Investment Grant to help with the expansion. If targets are met, the firm is eligible to receive up to $2 million in benefits.
