DAS North America Plans $50 Million Manufacturing Plant in Montgomery, Alabama
03/20/2012
Workers at the plant will construct seat components for vehicles built at Kia Motor's West Point, Georgia, plant used in Hyundai's Santa Fe, Kia Optima and Sorento models.
The plant is expected to create more than 240 jobs in the area, DAS North America officials said. The manufacturer of auto seat components, tracks and parts will first operate out of a 150,000 square foot leased facility, while its permanent plant is constructed at Montgomery Industrial Park. The firm plans to immediately hire 60 workers as soon as it moves into the temporary facility.
A DAS spokesman said the firm considered many locations for its manufacturing plant, with Montgomery ultimately being the best location overall.
This is great news for Montgomery that DAS decided to build its first North American manufacturing plant in Montgomery," said Mayor Todd Strange. "We are thrilled about the new jobs."
As an incentive to locating in Montgomery the firm will receive tax incentives and funding support to defray a portion of the firm's leasing of a temporary facility.
