LANXESS Investing $15M in Gastonia, North Carolina

03/09/2011
LANXESS, a maker of high-tech plastics, rubber, and chemicals, has selected Gastonia, North Carolina, for a new, $15 million facility. The company will create 55 jobs in the next three years. The One North Carolina Fund is supporting the project with a $250,000 grant.

"We are very happy with our decision to join the Gastonia community. North Carolina offers an attractive mix of assets and resources that will help our business succeed, and it is a great place to live and work," said Randy Dearth, LANXESS Corporation president and CEO.

A subsidiary of the German company LANXESS AG, the firm will produce high-tech polyamide (nylon) and thermoplastic polyester (PBT) that are used in lighter and safer auto parts, among other uses. More stringent fuel efficiency standards have increased demand for these products.
