Owens Corning Invests $7 Million In New Aiken, South Carolina, Warehouse Facility
04/16/2013
The warehouse facility, used to store products produced at the plant, will be located adjacent to the current plant at 2648 Wagener Road. In December 2010, Owens Corning announced the expansion of its Aiken facility with the addition of a non-woven glass fiber mat production line. That expansion added 35 jobs with a $36 million investment.
“We are pleased to continue to expand our footprint in Aiken. South Carolina has a business-friendly climate and has a talented workforce that we are pleased to have as part of our team,” said Steven Vermeulen, vice president and managing director of Engineered Solutions for Owens Corning Composites Business. “The decision to build a new warehouse facility allows us to better serve our customers and increase our operational efficiency. South Carolina is an excellent partner for our business and we look forward to building this investment here.”
“Owens Corning is a world-class company and a household name brand. It’s exciting to see the company strengthen its investment in South Carolina with the expansion of its Aiken facility. We celebrate the investment and look forward to the continued growth of Owens Corning’s operations in South Carolina,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
“Owens Corning’s continued investment in its Aiken facility is another sign that companies know they can prosper in the Palmetto State. From South Carolina, companies can easily reach markets throughout the Southeast and all along the East Coast. And with the facilities at the Port of Charleston, businesses can get their products to markets all around the globe,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“This is wonderful news for Aiken County and Owens Corning,” said Aiken County Council Chairman Ronnie Young. “We know our local manufacturers have to compete for corporate capital dollar allocations. Aiken County Council works hard to make sure our existing industries are well-positioned to obtain these investments. This investment is appreciated and we are glad to have a company like Owens Corning in Aiken County.”
“We certainly appreciate Owens Corning’s continued investment in their facility in Aiken County,” said Gary Stooksbury, chairman of the Board of Directors of The Economic Development Partnership. “The relationship between Owens Corning and Aiken County has been a strong one for the last four decades. And today we thank them for this new opportunity for growth.”
