04/25/2008
Sanderson Farms, Inc. will construct a new feed mill, poultry processing plant, and hatchery at sites in Kinston, North Carolina. The Mississippi-based company will invest $126.5 million to produce 1.25 million birds at the sites, with anticipated $98 million additional investment from associated contract growers. At full capacity, the complex will employ 1,500 people and will be equipped to process and sell 6.7 million pounds of dressed poultry meat per week. The company plans to begin construction of the facilities this summer, with initial operations expected to begin during the fourth fiscal quarter of 2009.
