UK Food Manufacturer Plans For Plant Closure
04/26/2010
The company bought the factory in November, 2007 and invested in infrastructure and operations for its Ethnic Cuisine ready-made meals production. It said it would initiate discussions with employees on a plan to initiate closing the site after negotiations with its anchor customer were not successful.
"Mutually agreeable terms could not be reached and as a result, we have reluctantly decided to terminate the existing supply business. Accordingly, we will be commencing consultation with employees on a proposal to close the site," states a company press statement.
Northern Foods produces branded and retailer own brand ready meals, sandwiches and salads, pizza, biscuits and puddings. It has 10,000 employees at sites across the UK and Ireland.
