Mattress Company Moving to Manchester, Vermont

08/19/2011
WCW, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer of premier bedding used in the medical and hospitality sectors, has announced plans to relocate its operations from Hoosick Falls, N.Y., to Manchester, Vermont. The company currently employs about 100 people divided between the Rensselaer County town of Hoosick and a call center in Bennington, Vermont. All of the jobs are expected to be moved to Manchester within six months. The move will allow the company to market its products to retail customers.

The winning combination of location, pro-business government, and incentives helped to seal the deal. According to WCW chairman John Wilkinson, "Vermont did an excellent job of presenting a competitive incentive package and providing assistance to us." WIlkson noted that everyone from Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin to representatives from the Bennington County Industrial Corporation to local representatives provided the company with support.

WCW will purchase the former Moore-Wallace building in Manchester and begin the move from Hoosick Falls immediately. The company received initial approval of $522,484 from the Vermont Employment Growth Incentive Program.
